Ryan “Kappy” Klaproth is a 33-year-old Developer at Northwestern University. Kappy got his Bachelor’s in Computer Games Development (focus in Programming) and while he initially wanted to make games, he ended up a software developer instead, using the skills he gained as a game programmer to approach software problems with a unique approach.
Kappy is an avid gamer, and streams himself gaming on Twitch and makes videos of that on YouTube & Tiktok. He primarily makes content focused on challenge running in Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, his two favorite games, but he also likes to stream playthroughs of games and roguelikes like Risk of Rain 2. Kappy used to compete in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the Pokemon series in its VGC circuit. He enjoys all sorts of games, but his favorite genres are RPGs, Roguelikes, and Platformers.
Outside of gaming, Kappy likes dancing, writing, bike riding, watching anime, trying weird flavors of sodas, Wheel of Fortune, and scrolling through Bluesky while watching The Bachelor. He’s a self-proclaimed “Root Beer Connoisseur” and loves trying different kinds of craft Root Beer. He’s married to his wife, Jenny, and loves spending time with his dog, Olive, and his daughter.
